چکیده

This paper describes preliminary work on validating process definitions by comparing a process definition to event streams derived from an actual execution of that process. The goal of this work is to find and remove discrepancies in the process definition before using that definition as the basis for various forms of analysis and decision making. The paper outlines important issues that need to be addressed and suggests possible approaches. The example used in this paper is based on a process from the medical

Towards A Simple Event Calculus for Run-Time Reasoning

The Event Calculus for Run-Time reasoning (RTEC) is a logic programming implementation of the Event Calculus, designed to compute continuous narrative assimilation queries on data streams. RTEC has been used for complex event recognition in various applications domains, such as maritime monitoring, city transport management and human activity recognition. The construction of the complex event d...

Towards a Logic for Inferring Properties of Event Streams

We outline the background, motivation, and requirements of an approach to create abstractions of event streams, which are timetagged sequences of events generated by an executing software system. Our work is motivated by the need to process event streams with millions of events that are generated by a spacecraft, that must be processed quickly after they are received on the ground. Our approach...

The Health Policy Process in Vietnam: Going Beyond Kingdon’s Multiple Streams Theory; Comment on “Shaping the Health Policy Agenda: The Case of Safe Motherhood Policy in Vietnam”

This commentary reflects upon the article along three broad lines. It reflects on the theoretical choices and omissions, particularly highlighting why it is important to adapt the multiple streams framework (MSF) when applying it in a socio-political context like Vietnam’s. The commentary also reflects upon the analytical threads tackled by Ha et al; for instance, it highlights the opportunitie...

Knowledge-infused and Consistent Complex Event Processing over Real-time and Persistent Streams

Emerging applications in Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) present novel challenges to Big Data platforms for performing online analytics. Ubiquitous sensors from IoT deployments are able to generate data streams at high velocity, that include information from a variety of domains, and accumulate to large volumes on disk. Complex Event Processing (CEP) is recognized as a...
